Growing Pains

Coworking space can seem cool and fully-functional when you’re starting up a business, but what happens when you’re ready to move on? Picture this … your firm has received seed money or a surge of investment funding, and as a founder, you have staffed up operations, and the company is growing by leaps and bounds. With this new manpower, your once well thought out office space is now feeling a bit crammed.

Growing pains are real at this stage in a start up’s life. And while it may feel “okay” to put a few more people into your existing coworking space, proper office space utilization is not something to be ignored. For your employee’s sake. For your sake. For the other companies or entrepreneurs who may share your coworking space. For the future profitability of your business.

The message your company sends to staff at this transitional stage signals your seriousness about the future of your business. Wouldn’t you like to build a space that is unique to your company? A layout that optimizes a floor plan which anticipates and accounts for future growth? A place that establishes your brand? And how fantastic would it be to have a space that allows employees to utilize their office environment in productive and fruitful ways?

Flexibility pertaining to lease term is one of the many advantages of utilizing coworking space, and at TOTUS, our center affords members an even greater level of flexibility due to our unique relationship with the building’s landlord. Having a professional presence while your business is growing, and then the flexibility to easily move into traditional office space, is a luxury not afforded to many other business centers. However, at TOTUS, we have transitioned numerous members into long-term traditional office space over the years, oftentimes within the same building that we operate out of!

Earlier this year one of our members, Medicare One moved from five TOTUS offices into 1,588 square feet at 105 Maxess Road. And last year, two of our TOTUS members, The Law Office of John D. Dello-Iacono and Dr. B. Allyn Behling transitioned into larger spaces within the same building as well. Prior to this, we have helped even more companies as their business needs have changed and grown.

Whether you need temporary office space for one person, or a space that will allow your company to grow until traditional office space is an option, TOTUS can design a solution for your unique business needs.
