Now that we are in full swing for the holiday season, you may be thinking “How am I going to maintain my work productivity all while balancing my holiday to-do list?”. The holiday season rush can be an especially stressful time for people and this year proves to be no different. The one tip we keep hearing over and over again is that “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
Here are a few tips and tricks to help you prepare for the upcoming season:
- Start Early – Don’t leave holiday shopping for the last minute. With all the supply chain issues we’re experiencing, the longer you wait, the more stressful it will be and the less options you’ll have. Start now, if you haven’t already. This doesn’t just go for gifts – this applies to holiday foods as well. Items that are non-perishable can be purchased ahead of time and kept in your pantry, ready for the holidays. This will keep you from searching the barren shelves.
- Plan Ahead – Will you be going out of town or taking time off from work? That’s great! Everyone needs time to decompress to spend time with their loved ones. Sometimes taking time off can be stressful because you worry about incomplete work items that will be waiting for you upon your return. One way to combat worry is to plan ahead. Make a list of all the tasks/items that typically need to be completed during this away time. Once you have this list, devise a plan to complete as many items as possible before you leave or ask other teammates for help. This will ensure an enjoyable vacation.
- Ask for Help – If your holiday to-do list seems insurmountable, ask for help. Whether it’s from family and friends or from a coworker, ask for the support you need. This is where the TOTUS Business Center comes in. We’re a full-service business center which means we can answer your phones, forward your messages, collect your packages, etc. Having a virtual call answering service or using virtual assistant services is the perfect way to ensure your business continues to run while you’re away for some much needed R&R.
